Job Description
We are seeking passionate, reliable, and timely pet lovers to join our team. This position involves approximately 70% dog walking and 30% pet sitting responsibilities.
Location: Fairfield, Stratford, Westport, Weston, Easton, Southport, Black Rock, and Bridgeport.
Responsibilities
Dog Walking:
- Conduct safe, engaging walks for dogs of various breeds and sizes.
- Ensure dogs receive adequate exercise and mental stimulation.
- Follow specific instructions and routines provided by pet owners.
Pet Sitting:
- Provide in-home pet care, including feeding, administering medication, and playtime.
- Visits can range from 30 minutes to overnight stays, depending on client needs.
- Monitor the health and behavior of pets and report any concerns.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for the pets.
Additional Duties:
- Interact with pet owners in a professional and friendly manner.
- Assist with scheduling and coordinate with the office team.
- Ensure availability for work Monday through Friday and up to two weekends a month.
- Be timely and responsive to client needs and office communications.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 25 years old due to insurance requirements.
- Some base experience with pets is required. Growing up with pets is okay. Owning a pet as an adult is even better. Professional pet care experience is a plus but not required, we are glad to train the right person.
- Must complete the short video interview that is part of the application. This is required.
- Comfortable handling pets of various sizes and temperaments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver's license and reliable, registered, and insured vehicle in good running condition.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
- Willingness to obtain certification in pet first aid and CPR through our provided courses.
- Flexibility to work varying hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Must own and know how to operate a smartphone, as all reporting is done via a smartphone app.
- U.S. citizens or legally authorized to work in the U.S. for at least the next 12 months.
Compensation
- Base pay is $11.50 per appointment, with an additional $2 per appointment for fuel compensation, totaling approximately $17.25 per hour when considering appointment and travel time.
- Paid employee training includes a Pet CPR & First Aid Certification Course.
- Flexible hours to fit your schedule, with most dog walking appointments between 10 AM and 4 PM.
- Weekly payroll via direct deposit.
