A puppy learns more about the world in their first six months than at any other point in their life. What happens during the day, while you are at work, is part of that learning. A puppy left alone for eight or nine hours learns that being alone is stressful and that holding it is impossible. Neither of those lessons is easy to undo later.
A midday visit changes that math. Your puppy gets a break, gets to relieve themselves in the right place, burns off some energy, and then settles. The day stops feeling like an endurance test. House training moves along faster because your puppy is not being set up to fail.
